The Central Avenue Medallions celebrate Arizona’s long history of native American imagery and copper mining. Mounted to decorative roadway and pedestrian light poles, the copper medallions are an iconic fusion of public art located deep within the heart of downtown Phoenix.
As the expense of maintaining the aging and antiquated high pressure sodium fixtures increased, the City began searching for a low cost and energy efficient solution that would not require an expensive LED fixture replacement.
